Qualitech services in the aerospace industry

Due to the high quality requirements in the manufacture and maintenance of aircraft, helicopters and aerospace, Qualitech tests all safety-relevant components completely with X-ray technology, which means that they comply with all Nadcap guidelines. Qualitech meets these aerospace requirements and is the right partner when it comes to meeting these standards.

High requirements at lofty heights

In hardly any other technical sector are the framework conditions as demanding as in space and aircraft development. Despite increasing cost pressure, high technical complexity, a globalized procurement and sales market and decentralized development and production, the highest safety requirements must be met. A range of additional services from our range will support you in meeting these high requirements.

Certified and qualified

Our test experts are qualified and certified according to NAS 410/ EN 4179 in the classical procedures up to level 3. As an accredited test centre, Qualitech AG has EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and Nadcap PT and RT (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) approvals. This makes Qualitech the right partner for you for testing work in the aerospace industry.

Investigation of material properties

To test the material properties and the dynamic strength of components and parts, as is often required in the aerospace industry, we can choose from a variety of different test methods and thus offer the right solution for you. We test the mechanical strength of the material under various temperature conditions using tensile and impact tests, and in our laboratories the structure of the material is analysed metallographically for structure, grain size and distribution. Further important information is provided by hardness measurement and hardness gradients in layers and through surface-treated areas.

Checking technical cleanliness to prevent consequential damage

Qualitech has an accredited test laboratory according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and offers services for the technical cleanliness of components and parts of various sizes for aircraft. Residues such as residual particles and liquids that often occur inside the parts are analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The inspection of technical cleanliness is based on the VDA regulations vol. 19/19.1 and ISO 16232, serves to prevent consequential damage and is frequently used in incoming and outgoing inspection as well as in the monitoring of manufacturing processes.

Damage may occur

In the unlikely event of a claim, we support our customers with our damage and material analysis services. Damage cases are often caused by design or manufacturing defects or unexpected operating conditions (start-up, downtimes, etc.). Due to the complex interaction of chemical, mechanical and thermal influences, an assessment of the damage process is often only possible through an in-depth damage analysis. Our team of 20 experienced specialists from various fields helps you to avoid damage by getting to the bottom of the cause of material problems and damage events. Depending on the type and significance of the damage, an adapted investigation program is defined, usually together with the customer.

Industrial Computed Tomography

In the development of products and in the quality assurance process in the aerospace industry, industrial computed tomography provides fast and precise evaluations. The dimensions of this modern device allow components with large dimensions up to a height of 2 m and a maximum weight of approx. 350 kg to be analysed and allow precise measurements even inside complicated geometries.

A generated 3D solid model provides comprehensive data and visualizes the results:

  • Target/actual comparisons
  • Wall thickness
  • Porosities
  • Other defects

Precision and accuracy

In our accredited laboratories in Winterthur and Birr, we calibrate measuring and testing equipment as well as complex components in terms of length and torque. In mechanical manufacturing, test equipment and calibration management are of decisive importance. We support our customers in the aerospace industry with our proven and efficient solution for measuring equipment monitoring.
